Problem with APS 1.2 on z3100
« on: May 30, 2007, 10:18:33 pm »

I recently upgraded firmware to 5.00.4, the driver to the newest version available on the web site and APS to version 1.2.    The application calibrates all papers fine but will only create profiles for HP branded paper.

For all my custom papers after calibrating (which it does fine) I get an error reading "An error occurred during the printing or measuring process, please check the printer display panel".  The panel says ready.

I am able to immediately generate a profile from Easy care.

Looks like a bug in APS 1.2.   Anyone figure this out?

thanks, John

John, I am not sure why this is but I get the same error and HP say they cannot reproduce it. This only happend since installing 5.0.0.4 so it more than likely firmware related.

I have APS 1.20 and firmware 5.0.0.4 but have had no problems.  I created a profile for Epson Canvas last night and all went as expected.  I have more to profile today and will keep a close eye on it.

I continue to have the problem with any 24 inch Custom paper.   HP papers profile fine.  I am communicating to the printer over a network if that helps and I am on Window XP sp2.

Any help is appreciated.

The problem seems to be trying to profile custom papers that were made with Firmware 4 when using Firmaware 5. Again it looks like we are going to have to fix this by deleting our custom papers and re-creating them.

Let me know if that works for you.   I thought I had tried this and still got the same result, but maybe I did not delete the paper completely.

An update...

HP has been able to recreate the problem.   It seems to present itself when using the Pearl paper type assigned to a new custom paper in the new APS 1.2 software.  I have been able to complete calibration and profiling on a number of gloss and luster papers.

Now that they recreate the problem on demand, it is being escallated.  We will see when it get's to Xrite to get fixed.
