HELP - Un-installing DPP from Macbook
« on: May 28, 2007, 05:16:55 pm »

I'm still having problem with DPP 3.0 on my mac.
For no apperant reason, i get booted out of DPP and lose all of my changes.

I have tried to remove DPP and install again, but not being that familiar with the Mac, I may not have done my un-install correctly.

I'd appreicate if someone could provide detailed instructions on how to remove all DPP and other assoicated files (i.e. Canon Utililities) before re-installing.

I did not have any issues with DPP until i intalled the upgrade to 3.0.

I just got my 1DIII today, so now, i can install directly, without having to download the software from Canon.  Before i do so, i just want to ensure i remove all files downloaded from previous upgrades of DPP and utiliites.

Canon doesn't use the standard Apple installer so no receipt file is created. You'll need to do it by hand, unfortunately.

Assuming that ~ indicates your home folder, you'll need to find & remove (drag to the trash) at least the files/folders listed in Bold.

~/Library/Preferences/Canon     - it's a folder -
~/Library/Preferences/Canon CameraCom Pref
~/Library/Preferences/Canon Digital Camera Installer.plist
~/Library/Preferences/CanonEOSViewerUtility Pref
~/Library/Preferences/CanonFileViewerUtility Pref
~/Library/Preferences/com.canon.Digital Photo Professional.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.canon.EOS Capture.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.canon.EOS Utility.plist
~/Library/Preferences/com.canon.ImageBrowser.ColorManagement.plist
~/Library/Preferences/EOS CameraCom Pref
~/Library/Preferences/EOS Capture Installer.plist
~/Library/Preferences/EOS Viewer Utility Installer.plist
~/Library/Preferences/EOS Viewer Utility.plist

/Applications/Canon Utilities     - it's a folder -

/Library/Preferences/Digital Photo Professional     - it's a folder -

The list is not exhaustive but I believe that with these files removed you should start with a clean sheet.

Congrats for your MK III

Khurram,
I think that you should remove the files/folders listed in Bold. The others files are present in different locations on my Mac but they are related to the various Canon applications that I installed over the years (going back to 2002 or 2003).
Don't forget to remove this folder: /Library/Preferences/Digital Photo Professional. It isn't located in your home folder (hint: go into the Finder, press CMD + Shift + G, and type or paste /Library/Preferences/ in the text field. Finally press the Go button and you should be at the right location).
