Book Size..

Hope this is not OFF TOPIC but it does relate to the size of my MF camera chip..

I am making a new book (portfolio)

most of my images are 22MP full frame

that is in a ratio of 1 to 1.333 if I am not mistaken

I want to fill the book with both lanscape and portrait images

the landscapes running as DPS

What aspect ratio should the book have to minimize wasted space

most of my images are portrait

Is there a new aspect ratio I could crop all my images to that would display full page either two uprights or one landscape filling the page

currently I have a square book (from my 16mp days) but I dont like the wasted space round the edge of the prints or cropping my images square

If I have to crop I would prefer to go in the squarer direction cos I hate skinny uprights

The chip size is 4:3 (or 3:4 whichever you like). To minimize space lost to stuff other than photos so to speak, the book should have that dimension ratio as well.

however when doing the double spread thing for landscape you will loose either on the sides or on the top depending on your cropping.

4:3 double page will be 4:6  so basically 2:3.

When you would do a book with dimensions 3:2 it will mean your portrait photos will have lost space.

You have more portrait images so the logical thing would be to go for 4:3 IMO.

I am trying keeping with the square book (I have two and they are costly)

It all really falls on how the look printed over the page break
