As far as I have been able to ascertain, only the MAC fimrware has been posted which is what I think JayMoon is using.

There is also the Win version. Login to your HP account and go to:
http://tinylink.com/?jAPWTpnRrP

This is the link for updating the firmware from HP Easy Printer Care / Support.

All of the drivers are still the old windows driver, only the MAC driver is new.

We are talking about the actual windows driver, not firmware 5.0.0.4 which we all have access to. The only thing on the site with a 1st May 2007 date are the icc profiles.

The new driver was aimed to be released on the 15th May 2007 but my sources tell me it hasn't been posted yet.

The Mac driver still seems to be hiding from me. I downloaded the firmware just fine, and the Japenese version of the driver (even though I had selected American), and now all I get is this screen which does not show the driver on it. Can anyone tell me what button to push? I've gone through all of the screens several times and still end up here...Thanks.

After several email exchanges with HP Helpdesk, I found that the new raster driver (version 61.71.341.0 dated April 20 2007) is available under the z3100ps GP driver downloads.   They did not specify, however, if this is compatible with the z3100 (non ps GP) models.

Download Mac Printer Utility and unpack, then run HP Printer Utility Installer.

Jae:

I did that first thing, but that is not the driver. At one point today there was a driver listed on that very same page, and it matched the specs that I was sent in an HP e-mail alert -

"HP Designjet Z3100 Driver ver 5.0.2"

That is the driver (more than 200mb) that I downloaded before and it would only install a Japenese version, even though everything English/American had been selected. Then several times I found that driver on this same page but it kept giving me an error message (can't mount disk).

Now when I click on the e-mail alert link for this driver the page it takes me to apologizes that the correct document is not available and I am unable to find it anywhere. Has HP been pulling this Mac driver from their web site today for some reason?

Or was the "HP Designjet Z3100 Driver ver 5.0.2" not real and the only thing (other than the firmware update) I needed to download and install is the utility?

5.0.2 is the latest version of the Mac driver. All of the latest Mac software is under the OSX heading on the driver page.

I downloaded both Mac OS_X_HP Designjet 'Driver.dmg' and 'Printer Utility.dmg' yesterday. I ran both programs but didn't bother to check the driver version until now. It is still 4.2.1, not 5.0.2.

Then I re-ran 'Designjet Installer' (one of two programs when you unpack 'driver.dmg). And, this time I read 'Read Me' carefully, and it states that it is Postscript Drivers.

So, I guess they don't have the latest driver for non-Postscript printer.

In conclusion, I am running with v5.0.0.4 firmware with v4.2.1 printer driver.

The driver under the 3100ps GP is for the PS version, not the pcl printer.

Boy, now I am even more confused.

Panosonic says "5.0.2 is the latest version of the Mac driver. All of the latest Mac software is under the OSX heading on the driver page."

Yet there is NO driver listed on the Mac page, only what I showed you in the screenshot above (unless they have added it back in again in the past hour).

And Jae says there is NO new driver for the Mac, just the same old v4.2.1, which HP says you cannot run the new firmware without (although Jae says it is working fine) - what gives?

HP must be continuously updating their site. I downloaded new driver and installer (v5.02) less than 30 minutes ago and installed it. Now, they are gone from their site.

Maybe we should give them some time to figure out what they are doing, and check with them in next week.

I will report back about my v5.02 installation soon.

FINALLY!  The driver is NOW available under the z3100 drivers list!  The PS driver does not work for the non-ps model (I tried)!

I downloaded v5.02 printer driver, it is not showing now in HP web-site, and installed it successfully. Now I am working with v5.0.0.4 firmware and v5.02 driver.

All looks fine, it prints without any problems. I don't know at this time if I can notice any changes in  print quality either way.

I still don't see a Windows driver for English (American).

This is worse than Christmas eve as a kid waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.

Ron,

When you are on the page looking at the old drivers, click on the dropdown list that allows you to secect another printer from your list. Select the Z3100 and then keep going. Don't know why this works, but you should find the new driver this way. That's how I found it.

I have had a clean install ofthe new firmware and the new driver. All is working well. I am calibrating and profiling now.

Good luck,
Jim

Thanks, Jim.  I've tried your suggestion and something is weird.  I can see the new Windows driver for the 44" but not the 24".  I've tried Firefox and MS IE browsers.  I've been deleting cookies and browsing history on both but still can't see the new Windows drivers for the 24"
