Gallery Reception, dress?
« on: May 16, 2007, 06:04:18 pm »

Michael,

Last year when Betty and I came to your Pikto show, we understood that Saturday morning is a pretty casual time of day. Well, Betty is concerned that Friday nights in Toronto may be quite different. I have assured her that I felt it would still be pretty casual, but then again, we don't want to drive that far to look like a couple of hicks from West Virginia, we may be, we just don't want to look that way.

We're looking so forward to being back in Toronto and we're actually staying more than 12 hours this time! We want to attend your reception, and then do some shooting around the city on Saturday. We're looking forward to your gallery, your show, and chatting with you again, we have made many of friends green with envy in describing our very brief visit last year.

See you Friday night.

Bill,

Clean jeans is what I would wear – though my wife won't allow it.

Casual is fine. I don't expect anyone to be in a jacket rr tie, unless the're coming directly from work – in which case tie removal will be mandatory.

Looking forward to seeing you both again.

And I was going to suggest white tie for Bill and Betty.

Sorry I can't be there.

Eric, I would not have been dissuaded, I really have a white tie; of course it comes with a red tux shirt and spats:

I'm not in the picture, I took it.

Now that's what I call proper gallery-opening attire!

Thank you, Michael,

Please accept the congratulations of the folks from West Virginia. Your reception was a wonderful treat! Your new gallery, your photographs, the food, the beverage, all superb! You put on a great party. It was well worth the drive.

It was truly a treat to chat again with you, to meet Chris and his lovely wife, and of course Jeff and Becky. We chatted with many others whose names we will probably never know, but we enjoyed to opportunity to chat with so many of those wonderful folks you attract to your gallery. We had a great time.

One last thing, please extend to your neighbors down the street there, my thanks for shouting when my car was about to towed. I would have really been up the perverbial creek without a paddle, or canoe, had they not come to my rescue.

PS: Your recommendation for Baldini was right on the money too. Excellent!
