« on: May 14, 2007, 12:00:54 pm »

what is the largest print anyone has got from a 3800?
i know that 17" (432mm) is the widest possible using a roll.

but im curious as to what the longest achieved is.
ive read that 37" has been printed, also 50".

although these reports where not too detailed, so im looking for more confirmation.

cheers.

Eric (and original poster Clarkee80),
Thank you, now please tell me how to print a full frame 16x24 print? I see on my new Epson 3800 that it has choices for paper size up to 17x22 and I have printed a 16x20 on this paper; how do we tell it, OK, I want to use a paper of size, say, 17x25, and print a 16x24 full frame photo?  I believe that I know how to specify in Photoshop CS3(new to that also) a crop of 16x24 size.  (I am talking about the normal 24x36 negative size, 2:3). Is there a way?
Thank you very much for any advice, I feel stupid to ask, Debra

Hi Debra,

My following instructions are for Windows (since that's what I have) but instructions for other platforms should be similar...

In the printer driver settings, click on the Paper tab. Then on the Paper Size menu, choose User Defined. A new box will come up. Set the paper width to 1700 and set the paper height to 2500. (These are in 1/100ths of an inch, so the numbers really correspond to 17 inches and 25 inches.) Enter a name of your choice (e.g., "17x25") into the Paper Size Name and click the Save button. Click OK.

Now (and in the future) whenever you want to print on 17x25, just choose 17x25 from this list.

(Also make sure to set the Portrait / Landscape orientation appropriately.)

Thank you very much Eric. (I have your Epson R3800 website bookmarked on home desktop PC, work PC, and on home laptop - your site is a wonderful source of information and I refer to it very often and appreciate your efforts there.)

Thanks again, Debra
