First, let me state this was a self-induced error.  I'm still loving this printer but thought I'd share this experience.

I was ready to crank out a print from Qimage.  I did all the normal activities and Qimage obliged nicely.

Then I realized I'd used the wrong profile.  The print job had already been spooled to Windows but hadn't started printing so I went to "Printers and Faxes" and canceled the job. Unfortunately it would appear that some of the print job made its way to the Z3100.  What eventually resulted was the 79:04 message and the need to reboot the printer.

Everything is fine with the printer.  It continues to produce stunning prints.

I've looked and looked and couldn't find any way to stop a print job in the HP Color Center.  Did I miss something?

Strange,  I usually have the spool window on the desktop to stop jobs that might be wrong (wrong margins for example) and even when the job is already started I can still end it without problems. I have to say that most often I push the red button on the printer and after that cancel the job in the spool window. I use the spool window more often to repeat the same job so normally the spooled data is kept in the spooler.

Well I'm a newbie at Qimage, but was not able to stop the job immediately either. On the Mac there is no problem stopping a job even if it has started. I do as Ernst, with all HP printers prefer the red X which stops the printer quasi immediately.
The reason that this may happen is there is communication as soon as the system calls the printer driver as there is an exchange of settings such as loaded media, etc.

Thanks, Neil.  I'll give the red X a try next time.

The Z consumed my discretionary cash this year but next year I think a new Mac Pro is called for.
