CS3 Bridge trouble
« on: May 11, 2007, 08:06:24 pm »

Has anyone had troubles with CS3 Bridge just halting and then closing unexpectedly? I will be scrolling through the images when I get a default beep and then a moment or two later Bridge just closes. Sometimes I get the option to send the error report but not always. Has happened about 5 or so times.

3ghz Intel processor with 3 gigs of ram (NO 3/GB switch), Win XP Pro. Machine DID NOT have BETA CS3 installed on it, just upgraded from CS2. CS2 has been uninstalled.

Bridge has never been totally trouble free since Version 1.0 for me but I am just thinking there must be a little bug somewhere to cause this. Of course it has no effect on Photoshop CS3 and I can relaunch Bridge and get right back to work like it never happened. And go for some time before I get the hicup.

Any thoughts would be helpfull

Have you looked at the other threads in this Forum discussing problems with Bridge?

It is very common with PCs, a fair amount of discussion here. Do a search. No solutions that I am aware of. I've tried just about everything I can think of, reinstall, clean reinstall etc.etc. ad nauseum. Personally, I am waiting for a fix from Adobe.

Anyone having problems with Bridge CS3, I'd recommend using (and if necessary re-installing) Bridge CS2 - the latest version of that program. I find it works fast and reliably. As long as you have your file handling preferences set to open the files with the designated extensions from Bridge CS2 to Photoshop CS3 it will do that (and of course open the raw files in ACR4 first). Once the Bridge CS3 issues are fixed, based on present experience it is reasonable to expect that it will pick-up all the cached data from Bridge CS2 once you re-instate it and start using it.
