Lightroom or Iview Media with NAS
« on: May 10, 2007, 04:08:05 am »

I use a NAS to store my images on. I have been reviewing more than one library program over the years. Most of them were not capable of building libraries with network attached storage.

Virtually all of them either want to have onboard storage or FW/USB attached storage which is not what I have and not what will be sustainable in the future.

Lightroom comes closest to what I like however every time you start is LR insists on checking upon the folder & file locations. This slows down the program until it is almost unusable. Now I only put in about 10K of images but have some 90K more, allready it takes about 10minutes before LR is usable.

Does anyone know whether this check can be killed? I know I should not move the files on my network. The thumbs are in LR itself so there is no need to check this every start-up.
