Stabilizing plate for telephoto lens?
« on: May 07, 2007, 08:41:29 pm »

In preparing for a photo trip, I have noticed that when I mount my 200mm f2.8 or 400 f5.6 lenses to my Canon 5D that there is some movement whether I mount the lens to the tripod with the lens collar, or mount the lens to the tripod with the L-plate on the camera. I am looking for a plate that I can use to mount both the lens and camera to, and then mount the plate to the tripod (I use a ballhead with a quick release on top). In this way, there should be no play.

I want the increased stability as I am planning to do quite a few stitched HDR photos and want to be sure that each of my multiple exposures are the same.

Any suggestions?
