My 5D has died after being submerged in salt water for a few hours.. A sad day indeed.. And now I am cameraless.. which is even worse.
So, what do I replace the 5D with? Any ideas?
My shortlist:
1DIII (Not yet available, selling at a premium, and with a long wait list)
5D (will most certaily be replaced fairly soon... a good workhorse.. but I think I'm in the market for a waterproof camera in this pricebracket..)
30D (had the 20D.. I'm sure I'd be disappointed with image quality compared to the 5D.. and it's due to be replaced.. and it's just a 20D with a new badge..)
400D (10mp, close to what I had.. the shutter sounds better than most cameras, QUIET! A few useful items like dust shake.. and though it may be a a bit too light, overall not bad).
This is what's available today.. Then there are the hypotheticals and long overdue 40D, 1DsIII (WAY too expensive) and 5DII (which depending on which way canon want to go, could be a really nice camera).
PLEASE don't suggest Nikon, Sony, Minolta or other brands. I have $3000 invested in Canon glass, and am lusting after the 50mm f1.2.. Since no other manufacturer has one out there, I'll stick to Canon. Their ergonomics may be a bit lacking sometimes, but the sensor quality is excellent, so I'm sticking with them.
So any constructive help in chosing one of hte above would be great.
Oh, I value image quality.. don't really need high frame rates (but don't mind if I have) shoot mainly in B&W, architectural, portraits and landscapes with a bit of environmental photography thrown in.. Once a year I do airshows.. and some animal shoots.. That's it.. So HELP please!
