Help with NEC SpectraVision?
« on: May 05, 2007, 09:09:51 am »

Oops!  I mean "SpectraView."

After rationalizing that a 26" NEC monitor with Eye-One clone is only slightly more painful to the purse than a 85 f/1.2 L II, I tried to find one.

Out of stock, backordered, we'll take your money but we don't have the monitor, etc, etc.

Can I buy a non-SV MultiSynch LCD2690WXi-BK and retrofit the SV equivalent?  If so, how?  Is it simply a matter of buying a gretagmacbeth package, or is there NEC software involved?

NEC's website is not very helpful.

I may have misunderstood you PM.

Here is a thread (a bit long) that discusses your question:
http://www.directdial.com/ca/shop/go/go.as...String=NEC+2690

As I recall the OP was eventually satisfied using the Eye One, and the software he bought separately from Nec, with the non SV 2690.

As far as I can tell from the NEC sites the monitors are identical with the only difference being the inclusion of the software and puck.  I also recall other posts where the eye1 worked, but I don't have direct experience.
