textured glossy paper?
« on: April 30, 2007, 01:22:48 pm »

This maybe a dumb question, but I am looking for a type of paper.

I used walmart about 1 month ago to print some 4x6's for fun. The print colors were ok, but I was really impressed with the paper they used. Its a semi gloss paper with a nice texture.

So I have looked every where for something similar for my Epson r1800. I ordered the sample kits through RedriverPaper and the closest to the texture was the Linen paper (http://redrivercatalog.com/sbprinter/epsonr1800/inkjetlinen.htm). The problem I have with this is that its not glossy. Does anyone know of a paper thats glossy or semi-glossy that has texture to it? Right now all the glossy papers I have seen are flat.

FYI: The Ultra Pro Gloss is very close. If it had slightly more texture it would be perfect.

The Ultra Pro Satin should be what you're considering.  Other satin finishes would also be similar.

First post, hope this goes out OK, and that I'm doing things right.

I use Epson's Premium Luster paper.  It's got a nice glossy finish, but has a little texture like some of the "matte" papers you get from places like Wal-Mart.

I'm no expert on paper.  I have stayed with Epson's Premium Glossy, Premium Luster, and Matte papers, and have been pleased.  This is an area that I need to expand my understanding and I need to try new papers.  If anyone sees this, and wishes to offer some suggestions, I'd be most thankful.
