"Tent for MacBook"
« on: April 26, 2007, 08:55:56 am »

Does anybody know of something you can use to screen of the sun
to make it easier to evaluate pictures on a computerscreen working outside.

Something you can put your laptop inside.

Maybe also attacheable to a tripod.

We carry Screen-Shades and they are durable, compact and can be adjusted in a number of ways.

The Thinktank Photo I feel is better than the Calumet if you want serious shading.

It is a bit deeper and works with several sizes of laptops.  The screenshade that CI sells is great as well, but it is fixed to the size you buy.

I own a lot of Thinktank products and there is no better company out there.  Their only competitor is LowePro in quality and design.

Best of luck!

ive used the hoodman type, and this type- [a href=\"http://www.lap-pod.com/]http://www.lap-pod.com/[/url].

but the best type i have found is screen shade type that Chris Lawery mentioned. can be a bit heavy for the laptop screen hinges.

The best one for your situation is made by LightWare Inc..........it is called the PixelShade. Because it is a new product, it is not on their website. I have used both the hoodman & camera bellows versions. I use it on my 17" powerbook and I like  because their is absolutely no ambient light reflecting on the screen (making a profiled monitor usable in the field) and you can see the entire screen from corner to corner. If it interests you send an email to info@lightwareinc.com and either Janine or Brenda will take care of you

i really didnt like the hoodman shade. it didnt stay on well, and had very limited shading. i ened up giving to my assistant.

i think the best one would be the pixelshade. ive heard good things about it. i guess it would pretty hard on the laptop hinge.

Try the Ezyview from Lastolite, best thing I ever used and is really compact to store when not in use

And good thing to spray it with waterproof spray

If you got to the manufacturers website, there are more options and the same prices.

for those who don't want to pay a fortune for the tent for your macbook or macbookpro and have a Ikea in town(well, who don't??), check this out, only US$4.99:

http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...Number=50104774

i am using one myself.  it fits perfectly with the macbook but a little bit tight for the 15"macbook pro(i use both).  try it and if you don't like it, just use it for your CD storage.  it is only $4.99!!  and, of course, get the black one!!  the only drawback is that it is still a little bit bulky after folding down.

I like the one from Think Tank.  The oval shape of the opening is filled nicely when you put our head in the opening and most of the light is blocked very nicely.  With a little cutting and fitting I put it into the lid of a pelican case which made a nice location kit.
