CRT vs LCD, and video cards
« on: April 21, 2007, 12:19:39 am »

I have an old but not very much used Sony G500 21" monitor.  It takes calibration to sRBG well.

The PC driving it died completely recently so I'm planning to buy a new one to do my colour work on.

I've been pondering whether it's worth upgrading to a decent LCD to replace the CRT, but I'd be interested to know what people think about the sort of LCD monitor (LaCie? Eizo? others?) I'd need to get before it would be appreciably better than the CRT.

In other words, how much would I need to spend on an LCD monitor before I'd notice an appreciable improvement over the Sony CRT?

Second, what sort of video card should I be looking for?

TIA
