Mark Norton has dismantled a Leica M8 camera. I don't know if linking to another forum is allowed, but I think it deserves a visit to the Leica User Forum. I would suggest Michael to contact Mark Norton and propose him the writting of an article for The Luminous Landscape. It is impressive.
