z3100 luster paper recommendations?
« on: April 06, 2007, 01:48:12 pm »

I have been using inkjetart microceramic luster as  a replacement for epson premium luster.  I am upgrading to a z3100 and I am thinking about looking for a different luster paper to use with it. I use various museum grade papers for fine art prints but for everyday snapshots and portfolio prints I like to use cheaper but yet good quality luster paper.
Please let me know what you think is a good high quality luster paper.

Thanks

HP Pro Satin does not have a finish like Luster.  It is closest to Epson Semi-Mat.

HP Instant Dry Satin is the closest to Luster in terms of the finish.

The best deal for Luster paper is Epson Luster in 24" rolls from B&H.  100 feet for only $100.  Micro Ceramic actually costs $8 more in a 24" roll.  For that matter, the 24" roll of Epson Luster is only $15 more than a 17" roll of Micro Ceramic.  But with the 24" roll you can print 16x20 horizontally instead of vertically

B&H is out of stock, as they usually are.  I can understand why, given the price.

I like the slight gloss of the microceramic. And it tends to get very good longevity numbers even though it is not acid free. Thats always been puzzling to me.

I didn't think to look at B&H!  Thats a deal too good to pass up. Guess I'll be getting in line when its back in stock.

Thanks
