New ipf5000 question
« on: April 04, 2007, 12:41:03 am »

Hey guys,
I just got an ipf5000.  So far, I'm pretty happy with the performance but I had a few questions.  I'm using the imgageprograf plugin for my printing.  From what I understand this bypasses photoshop print.  My question is about the input resolution into the imageprograf.  I've read most people are running it at 600ppi for slightly better results than 300ppi.  Therefore, I've been changing my image resolution to 600ppi so the prints come out right.  However, I've always been told you wouldn't see a difference in print quality at anything over 300ppi.  Can anyone explain this to me?  Also, would upping the resolution on the actual image to something over 600ppi give me an even better result?  This is assuming I'm using 600ppi in the input in imageprograf.
thanks

There's a great thread about just that question on the Wiki Here:

Some testing has been done and there's been good discussion of things in that thread.

Have fun!
