Epson 4000 Print size
« on: March 30, 2007, 02:30:36 am »

Hello,

if I try to do prints of the size 40x120 cm (15.74x47.24'') the result is a 40x30 cm (15.74x11.81'') print that shows a 25x25 cm (10x10'') portion of the image.

I tried it with a G4 and a Core 2 Duo machine, Photoshop CS2 and CS3beta, OS X 10.4.9, Epson Drivers 4.0 and 4.6 Image Size doesn't seem to be an issue. I tried everything form a file size of 15-150 MB.

Any suggestions welcome, yes and I don't want to buy a RIP because I only need 20 prints of that size. Thank you.

Best,
Johannes

Hi!

As far as I know - You need a rip to print long panoramas with 4000. This is/was(?) a limitation of the Mac OS internal paper handling with Epson driver.  I have not heard it´s been fixed.

No chance on MacOSX, but no problem with XP. I've printed very long panoramas on Epson 4000.

Yes, I have printed 60" panoramas and verticals on the Epson using XP and the Epson driver.

Are you sure that you set up the paper page size correctly?  You have to be careful that the units and the decimal place are correct otherwise you may inadvertantly be printing ona very small page.

I too was frustrated with this problem - I'd also been told it was a mac limitation. Oddly though, when I added a 7600 printer, it was quite capable of printing 96 inches which raises the question - is it really a Mac limitation after all? Since I could now print the bigger images, I didn't really need to solve the problem on the 4000 but it suggests that perhaps someone out there does have a solution. Any ideas?

I suspect it's a combination Mac/Driver issue.  I can print that length easily on Windows with Qimage but it's win only
