Empty Z3100 Cartridges are really empty
« on: March 15, 2007, 05:46:45 am »

I just decided to open up one of my empty z3100 cartridges and was pleasantly to find that unlikely Epson cartridges, the HP cartridge is really empty.

Nice to see we are getting to use what we pay for.

Epson 7500 Carts are a third full when they claim to be empty-  A trip to the vet for a 100ml syringe means for every three carts i get one free!

Mine are 7600 cartriges and are chipped so I end up throwing away a lot of ink.

new epsons are much better. they use a air pump to force out the ink so the carts are fully used.

I have quite a few new things I am testing including a pile of media. The reds are improving but the colours below L 30 generally are still a big problem.

Didn't Epson get sued for that with an advertisment that you could actually claim money back? I assume they have changed their product line by now...

I think that only had to do with a certain range of cartriges that were shipped with a printer. Also only valid in the U.S.A.

I believe that while current Epson cartridges do report empty when in fact they are not, they actually contain more ink than advertised. So you sort of get your money's worth.

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The Z and even the 9180 are pumped cartridges . Both are as empty as they physically can be when they stop printing. There is a check for the last possible printing in the base of the carts. The miniscule amount left is for reason, you cannot or do not want to draw a vacuum in the tubes, nor introduce air.

I've taken apart quite a few and yes they are empty.
