My rep bought some paper (and a Canon 5000) from Jim at Shades of Paper - the paper never arrived. Printer took almost a month to arrive - The excuse was that the paper work was not filled out right and it was such a problem with export papers - the destination was Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The printer sat for more than a week in New Jersey because the snafu with the paperwork - and why it was shipped to new Jersey from the Midwest was never explained. In the end the shipping charges was huge - three times what it was for an Epson 4800 that was shipped 1,600 miles in the US by myself - all I did was to take it to a UPS store.

I have shipped to Canada several times myself and the paper work is a breeze. All you have to do is fill out two forms.

Jim says he shipped the paper by regular post - no tracking. Refused to credit the purchase or reship with tracking. At the time of the order he told us that he shipped regularly to Regina, no problems, that he had a customer there and said he would put us in touch with that photographer - never did.

Not a good experience.

Interesting. I've had nothing less than excellent service, and in some instances above the call of duty, from Jim over the past several months with five orders. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry you had a problem but I've also had nothing but great experiences with Jim Doyle at Shades of Paper. Over the years he's always done what he can to make good on what he can control.

I can also vouche for Jim's excellent customer service. Shades of Paper came highly recommended by another customer, The Highland Studio, a commercial print studio with high volume work that purchase many of their papers from him. I also purchsed my Canon ipf5000, as well as many papers from Jim, and have nothing but good experiences to report.
