3800 and double sided Printing?
« on: March 12, 2007, 02:15:42 pm »

So after much testing and research with resellers, and Epson support, it seems that double sided printing on the Epson 4000 (and on ANY "PRO" printer) is not "Officially" supported by Epson.
Meaning basicallly as an Epson Support tech said " it isn't supported, but if it works for you, great".

What I'm talking about is printing on both sides of the paper ( on matte paper).
On our 4000 scuffs occur to no avail. Epson Sales, and tech support, after several calls, said that  the 4000, 4800, 7800, & 9800 (basically the pro printers) were not designed for double sided printing.

Even though they sell double sided paper, that paper is ONLY supported on the smaller desktop printers. For example the 1280, 2200, & the 2400 etc.

Well I tried the same files and paper with a friend's 2400....
NO scuffing. Perfect!

My question is about the 3800.
The paper path seems similar to the 1280 and 2400.
Has anyone tried double sided printing on this printer with matte paper?
I hear that this printer is actually a better deal that the 2400, but I can't test it first hand.

Thanks,
norbert

Good question, sorry no idea for matte papers. But just FYI, I've successfully printed double-sided on semi-gloss papers (Moab Kokopelli Studio Semi-Gloss, to be precise). Maybe someone else can chime in for matte papers.
