Appreciative of Tutorials
« on: March 09, 2007, 02:51:51 am »

I just wanted to thank Michael and Jeff for taking the time to share their knowledge of Lightroom.  I am finding it easier to use the program, it is becoming more intuitive. So many awesome features that are so much simpler to use in this program than in others.

I'm loving the program, and am definitely pleased at being able to simply download the videos and not have to wait for a dvd to arrive.

My friends, even those not very into photography, are impressed when they watch me use lightroom.

So again, thank you guys. I look forward to the next videos.

P.S. If anybody here has made some very good presets of classic style split tones, feel free to post them or let me know of some method of obtaining them.

Another vote of thanks.    At first sight, these videos may seem somewhat unstructured; just two gloriously bearded guys (as can be deduced from my avatar to the left, I regard a good beard as a sure sign of Maturity, Wisdom, and Beauty....  ), talking away in front of their PowerBooks.

But after watching them for a while, with frequent pauses to try out things on your own images, you´re suddenly aware that you know a lot about how to use Lightroom for YOUR OWN workflow, mainly because they discuss the workings of, and the philosophy behind, the software instead of just telling you "do this, and then do that, and you´re done (for?)" like too many other instructional videos (no names...).

This is pedagogy at work; it surely worked well for me.  At the moment of writing this, the download of the latest instalment is running in the background.  I look forward to seeing it!  And I look forward to the remaining ones as well.

Thanks a lot!

Thank you both for your support.

Per, I have quoted you on our promotion on the What New page. I hope that you don't mind. It's a great quote.

Cheers,

Michael

Ditto to NLund and Per (and another vote for beards     )

When I read the posts in the forum about "Why doesn't LR do this?" or "Lightroom messes up when I try to do that", etc., I think "Why bother with Lightroom at all?"
But then when I watch the Michael and Jeff team go through the tutorials, it all starts to make sense.

Thank you (bearded) guys!

I just tried to buy the tutorial and failed.  I get very annoyed at websites that demand the use of zip codes; I don't have one.

Let me add my agreement with the views of earlier contributors to this thread. The tutorials were not only helpful to a deepening of my familiarity with Lightroom, they were also enjoyable to view. A situation of gain without pain. And they sensitized me to certain questions of overall workflow and image processing to which I have given insufficient attention. Many thanks to all involved.
