I don't see either of these services in my services applet.

Does everyone else have them?

They are both there on my machine (for the 2200.)

Be sure the "extended" tab is checked when looking for Services. If they aren't there, then they probably need to be reinstalled.

I do have "entended" checked and I still don't see them.

I am running a 3800.

Can someone with an actual 3800 confirm that they have these services?

Thanks!

Hi, I'm posting this quote from dpreview, where a network engineer had a problem getting the status monitor working on his 3800 and finally found a workaround:

Quote
OK, I have spent a lot of time trying to resolve this issue. I have tried Network traces, stack analysis, port scanning and every other thing I could think of.

I was testing out my old Epson 2200 printer, and realized I uninstalled the driver while I was troubleshooting the 3800 Status Monitor. I reinstalled the 2200 driver. I noticed the Status Monitor for the 2200 was not working. I downloaded the latest 2200 Status Monitor from the Epson US site and then saw the ink level on my 2200. I also noticed that the Status monitor was also Version 3. I decided to try the 3800 status monitor again. VOILA! Now my 3800 Status monitor is working over Ethernet only! All I did was install the 2200 driver and Status Monitor.
Go figure! I would be curious to know if this works for anyone else...

Confirmed, this solution works!

Just install the 2200 version of monitor and everything comes up!

WOW!

BTW, Procedure used:

Step 1: Make sure your 3800 driver is installed and not working over the ethernet.
Step 2: Install the Epson 2200 driver ver. 5.5bS.

During the install stop the driver from searching for the 2200, it will automatically assign itself to any open port.
Step 3: install the 2200 status monitor ver. 3.10a.
Step 4: Confirm that the 3800 Status monitor is now working.
Step 5: Go into Start/Printers and Faxes and delete the 2200 reference.
Step 6: Click on Start and run MSCONFIG, click on the tab on the right "Startup" and uncheck the boxes next to the files E_S10IC2 and E_S21C.
Step 7: Reboot the computer and when the information box comes up saying you modified your startup programs just tick the box so MSCONFIG doesn't come up everytime you boot. Click OK and you're done!

You can now set network monitor for the 3800 and all other features will work properly.

Hope this helps...

Do you mean temporarily install the 3800 over USB? Or just that the status monitor is broke for net attachment?

I mean make sure that the 3800 printer driver/Status monitor is actually not working before going through all the 2200 hoops.

Some people might assume that the status wont work but it is working for a lot of people and I am just suggesting making sure before having to do the rest of the procedure.

It's comforting to know that my antique 2200 is still good for something.

Some more detailed info from the original poster in dpreview:

Quote
In all three cases, all I did was install the Epson 2200 driver and
2200 Status Monitor. I selected the port for my 3800 using "Manual"
when installing the driver, since the printer is not attached to my
other machines. Here are the files I used for the update:

   2200 Driver: epson12230.exe
   2200 Status Monitor: epson11276.exe

I d/l these from the Epson US site.

I also noticed that I must have NetBIOS enabled on my network card.
You can check this at Start/Setting/Network Connections. Right
click your active NIC and select properties. Then select "Internet
Protocol TCP/IP" and select "Properties". Select "Advanced" then
the "WINS" tab. Verify "NetBIOS over TCP/IP" is "Enabled".
   "Default" should work too.

You should be able to "ping" your printer by the name on page 2 of
the Network Status sheet printed from the printer panel. I hope
   this helps...
