New eMotion 54LV & eMotion 75 LV
« on: March 04, 2007, 11:40:15 pm »

Dear All,

Since I have been asked about the new coming Sinar eMotion backs 54 LV & 75 LV with Live-Video capability, here the necessary information about it. Please note that the prices given are our recommended list/enduser prices, valid in Switzerland. These prices may vary from one country to another, and are therefore given as indication.

1. eMotion 75 & eMotion 75 LV

- Starting mid of April Live Image capability will be introduced for the current Sinarback eMotion 75 as an upgrade (see below) and of course for the new upcoming eMotion 75 LV as a standard feature.

- We will therefore be offering two versions of the eMotion 75:  the existing eMotion 75 and the new eMotion 75 LV.

2. eMotion 54 LV

- At the same time, we will also be introducing another new eMotion model: the Sinarback eMotion 54 LV. This new back of our "54's-class" features a 22 million pixels CCD sensor and all the same basic functionalities as the Sinarback eMotion 75 (except for the internal memory that is 3 GB).

- Besides of being capable of a Live Image, this Sinarback eMotion 54 LV will have as well an internal new hardware with improved image quality.

- The internal mechanics of the eMotion 54 LV is the same as with the eMotion 75 and 75 LV. That means that when adapting the back to a camera, the same adapter kits as with the eMotion 75 can be used. The scope of delivery of the eMotion 54 LV will be the same as of the eMotion 75 and eMotion 75 LV.

3. Upgrade from eMotion 75 to eMotion 75 LV

- Any existing Sinarback eMotion 75 can be modified to Live Image capability (order number 552.36.023).

- All Sinarback eMotion 75 users, who would like to upgrade their back to Live Image capability, must send in their eMotion 75 to be modified to a Sinarback eMotion 75 LV.

- The modification consists in a hardware modification and a firmware update.

- The recommended list/enduser price in Switzerland is EUR 1'892.- for this upgrade.

4. Upgrade from eMotion 22 to eMotion 54 LV

- The Sinarback eMotion 22 cannot be modified for Live Image capability: its hardware does not allow for the necessary modifications. This applies for all eMotion 22 that have been sold the last two years and also for the few units still left on stock.

- All eMotion 22 users, who would like to upgrade their back to Live Image capability, can exchange their Sinarback eMotion 22 for a Sinarback eMotion 54 LV at a very attractive recommended list/enduser price (in Switzerland) of EUR 2'525.-

- This means that the customer wishing such a live video capability with his existing eMotion 22 will be given a brand new eMotion 54 LV for the above mentioned recommended price.

5. Pricing for the new eMotion 75 LV and for the new eMotion 54 LV

- The new eMotion 75 LV will have the same recommended list/enduser price as the current price of the existing eMotion 75.

- The current eMotion 75 price will therefore be reduced.

- The new eMotion 54 LV will have the same recommended list/enduser price as the current eMotion 22.

For detailled pricing, please contact your local Sinar distributor.

Thierry

Other than the live video, are there any other differences or image quality improvements between the e75 and the e75LV?

Dear Prakash.

There will be no difference between the e75 and e75 LV concerning the internal electronics/hardware, but image quality will be improved by means of a firmware update (for both e75 & e75 LV). The hardware/electronics upgrade is only necessary for those wishing the live video function.

This firmware update can of course be performed by the customer himself, as soon as available and by downloading the firmware update from our webpage.

Only when the customer wishes an ugrade to the live video function does he have to send the back to Sinar's factory, for the additional necessary hardware upgrade.

Best regards,
Thierry

I suppose you mean from e22 to e75 LV?

There is currently an upgrade path from e22 to the e75, valid until March 31st '07. Please contact your local distributor.

I believe that the same shall be available thereafter from the e22/e54 LV to the e 75LV.

This information shall be communicated as soon as available through our distributors.

Best regards,
Thierry

Hi Thierry,

A few quick questions:

Quote
- The internal mechanics of the eMotion 54 LV is the same as with the eMotion 75 and 75 LV. That means that when adapting the back to a camera, the same adapter kits as with the eMotion 75 can be used. The scope of delivery of the eMotion 54 LV will be the same as of the eMotion 75 and eMotion 75 LV.

Do the e22 and e75 use the same adapter kits?

- All eMotion 22 users, who would like to upgrade their back to Live Image capability, can exchange their Sinarback eMotion 22 for a Sinarback eMotion 54 LV at a very attractive recommended list/enduser price (in Switzerland) of EUR 2'525.-

- This means that the customer wishing such a live video capability with his existing eMotion 22 will be given a brand new eMotion 54 LV for the above mentioned recommended price.

Does the new 54LV come with a new warranty?

These offers seem to become valid in a few weeks, but when do they end?

Do you have any noise samples from the 54LV at higher ISOs, and is the highest ISO still 200 or is it increased by a stop?

Btw, there is still no information about the LV backs on the Sinar website.

Hi Thierry,

A few quick questions:

Does the new 54LV come with a new warranty?
YES, SINCE IT IS A COMPLETELY NEW BACK WHICH IS HANDED-OVER TO THE CUSTOMER FOR THE UPGRADE OF HIS eMOTION 22.

These offers seem to become valid in a few weeks, but when do they end?
THERE IS NO LIMIT IN TIME TO THIS OFFER YET.

Do you have any noise samples from the 54LV at higher ISOs, and is the highest ISO still 200 or is it increased by a stop?
NOT YET SINCE IT HAS NOT YET BEEN RELEASED.

YES, THE HIGHEST ISO REMAINS 200 SINCE WE DO NOT CHANGE TO ANOTHER SENSOR: IT IS STILL THE SAME SENSOR AS IN THE eMOTION 22.

Btw, there is still no information about the LV backs on the Sinar website.
YES, PURPOSELY: THE INFORMATION WILL BE THERE AS SOON THESE BACKS ARE DELIVERED, IN ABOUT 2 OR 3 WEEKS.

Thierry,

This would probably also mean you get a fair amount of used 75's and 22's. Is Sinar planning to sell those again as refurbished units?

Thx.

Dear Ray,

YES & NO!

I explain myself:

- Yes, because a current eMotion 22 will be replaced (entirely) by a new back: thus the "upgrade" is a swap to a new back and we will obviously have "older" eMotion 22 which will be sold at a lower price.
- No, because the upgrade of the existing customer's eMotion 75 will have to be sent to factory for a real upgrade (internal electronics) and send back thereafter.

Hope this answers,
Thierry
