A few from Japan

Dear all,

A few images taken this weekend in the Yatsugatake range in Central Japan. All taken with a Mamiya ZD and processed in Lightroom 1.0.

Gorgeous, as always, Bernard. You make a good argument for the ZD over either Nikon or Canon, too.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your kind comments. The ZD is a nice tool capable of delivering very nice results, it wouldn't take much to make it a great tool.

Anyway, the game has always been the same, make out the best of what you have.  I still have so many things to improve on in this regard...

Cheers,
Bernard

Bernard, Thanks for sharing - once again amazing photographs.... looks very cold!!

Just thought I would mention that it seems to take for ever for me to connect to the flickr link. I am on a satellite internet, faster than dial up but not as fast as Broadband. Are thumbnails a pain for you post? I know I am not the only one on relatively slow internet, and it would be unfortunate if people did not see your amazing images because of the time it takes to connect to the link.

Hello Julie,

Thanks for the comments and information. I wasn't aware that Flickr was so slow... I am in the process of putting together my own site, let's hope that it fixes the problem.

Regards,
Bernard

Thank you Bernard, for showing a Japan I didn't know existed anymore... the Japanese suburbs were warm enough yesterday for me to go pay my rent in a T-shirt.

I am especially attracted to the uncanny forms of the first image with that nice shade of gray in the rocks, and the "swing" which runs through your third image. Or is that my ignorance, going for relatively easy to understand compositions

It looks like you had nice weather up there, the patterns in the snow are beautiful. Thank you for sharing a nice set of inspiring images again.

Beautiful work as always, Bernard.  I particularly liked the first one.  When I opened the link my initial reaction was that the top of the mountain was exploding.

The first and third ones really struck me.

I liked the foreground of the second, but found the blue of the sky distracting my eye from the relatively monochrome foreground--my personal taste suggests de-saturating it a bit, but that is not to belittle the quality of the image.

I always look forward to a treat when I see your images crop up in the new posts section.

Beautiful art, Bernard. My favorite is 1766. The darker monotone snow covered mountains are beautifuly accented by the orange sunset band. A great effect.

Bernard, I've been brooding over your first photo here for a couple of days and I have to say finally, in my opinion it is brilliant!
I work mainly on mood and feeling when I'm "assessing" whether a pic grabs me, and this one does it on all counts. Compositionally, it's beautifully balanced, diagonally with the darker sky and the light snow, and the rocks!! The top ones seem to be extruding out of the mountain, while the lower ones are hanging on to it.
I would just love to see this on a large print. Congratulations Bernard!
Bob.
