I understand that XP will be supported until 2014. If true, you'll likely wish to upgrade your 2200 before then.

Yup...I think Epson got the message that this printer was still very uch alive and kicking.....the old drivers were ok but now we have a working status monitor again

I suspect that they will continue to support it for a few years but 2014 is stretch!!!
As for upgrading my 2200 .....yup I suspect by then I may be on something else but at the moment it does what I want quite nicely thanks. Also us Brits have to pay through the nose for technology so upgrading is a costly process and involves permission from my money restiction device (wife).
