iPF5000 diver/firmware updates online

The Canon website list some new drivers/firmware updated as of 2/7/07 (nothing for the Windows Photoshop Plugin) :
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controll...0&modelid=14005 , but the Canonipf5000wikispaces : http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/Latest+...e+and+Utilities , lists different driver/firmware available only through calling Canon and requesting a CD? What’s the difference

Canon USA didn't update their web with latest firmware, if u are from US u can all them and they will deliver cd with firmware 1.23 and latest drivers...

It's been a mess last few days, canon europe posted new version of PS plugin but nothing else, canon Canada also had some of updates but no firmware and now canon us updated their web but with previous realese, which lead us to Canon Japan:

Where I found brand new drivers and firmware
I installed and everything worked,  all the versions are latest and greatest (well not so great as there are bugs left)

Mac OS X:
[a href=\"http://download.canon.jp/pub/driver/bj4b/update/macxipf5000udk1.dmg.gz]http://download.canon.jp/pub/driver/bj4b/u...5000udk1.dmg.gz[/url]
This is all in one file that i installed and everything worked, at some point installation will ask u what region are you, select appropriate! There are few languages included as on original cd

For windows

http://cweb.canon.jp/drv-upd/bj4b/udkwin-ipf5000-2.html
Nobody tested these files for windows yet

As I stated on ipf5000 wiki; I should learn japanese because of this printer;)

Disclaimer: Altough drivers/firmware did work for me, use at your own risk;)

I installed firmware 1.23 from the Japanese site. When you do so, the installation program runs in the same language as your installed garo device - German in my case. When you start the downloaded program you are asked, what you want to do. Either update your firmware or update your software. I first made the firmware update and the software update after that.

Now there are some new papers in the media configuration. The garo device setup utility is now 3.0, the garo status monitor is 2.8, and the photoshop plugin is 2.03.

Until now I cannot see, whether there are any solutions for the known issues discussed on the wiki. When I have more experience, I will post here.

The "Known Problems" section of the Wiki has been tested against Firmware 1.23 and Plugin 2.03, etc.  The Known Problems listed there were not fixed by these updates (with the exception of banding in the trailing 1.25 inches of prints from the Cassette, which now has a known fix that has worked for everyone who has tested it; the Wiki lists this fix).  The fixes/changes in the Firmware/Software that have been discovered have expanded gradually.  See the "Latest Drivers..." page of the Wiki for all that is currently known.

You can now download the lastest drive/plugin updates from the Canon site vs. calling to get the CD. It's one large file 135 mb.

Yes, but according to a poster on the Wiki, you can't download if you are outside the U.S.  Apparently the IP address is checked to enforce this.  A definite problem for IPF5000 users in the UK, where no Firmware is posted.  Apparently Canon does not trust the users in the UK to update their own firmware and requires a service call just to perform this function!!!  Of course, if their skills were really that limited, they would never even be able to use this (horribly poorly documented) printer :-)

I discovered that too when I tried to get the new version of the Plug in. Canon seems to be having a real tough time getting its act together at both a national and international level. So far here in Canada we apparently don't need the new plugin.

Canon CPS service in western Canada seems to be in a complete state of disarray too.  Seems like some attention to customer service and mid level management worldwide is badly needed.

Canon USA tech told me this morning that an upgrade to the plug in is included with the other upgrades/updates. Does anyone know if the new firmware will work under Vista.  I am currently using the original software, driver and original firmware (v. 1.08) with very few problems/issues. If I install the new firmware and it doesnt work I know of no way to remove it. Could create a mess.  Any ideas???  He said the Driver does not work with Vista but the Plugin should be no problem.

Canon own manual clearly states that we should update our firmwares to take advantage of new features, so maybe you guys in uk could press Canon with this.
