This is old news, the cameras and lenses division was bought up by another company... I notice that the article has the date September 2006.

We are still waiting to see how the new company handles the Mamiya product line.

They have a new company for the photo products but it seems to be doing well.

The ZD is a steady seller here in Europe, is my feeling.

The article says the opposite: It says that there will be digital developments in the future.

And the ZD?

The back should do well at just $9k.

And the ZD?>

hi Quentin,

 I spoke to mamiya germany a few days ago (because the ZD I bought turned out to be a "EU-model" (probably from mamiya france or somewhere and imported by the dealer into germany) and therefore not covered by garanty by mamiya germany).
They said,  the ZD is going to be reduced in price shortly. (thats some kind of law: you buy something and the next day you here of the upcoming discount).

Apart from that, your dealer (R.White) seems to have/had some really competitive deals on the ZD.

Mamiya new web site, the new company.

Google tranlations are good comic value if you're a native English speaker;

"Silver salt camera matures".

This bit of accidental philosophy has also got me thinking;

"everyday life does not know the place where it is restricted"

Glad to hear the ZD back is coming though- if it's any good, if it has decent software, if it works as advertised, if it is well supported, if interfaces to the RZ without hangups.....

All very big ifs.....

Will the silver salt camera really mature?

Hi Stefan,

I was really thinking just of the US market, where the ZD has not yet been released.  You're right about Robert White deals - I bough my ZD from them at the then best possible price available.

Sod's law if the price comes down, but that is to be expected I am afraid.

I have no idea what are Mamiya plans for next year, reading the news on their new web they seem to be selling Schneider lenses now, I don't really get what is the way in involving in large format now. Or maybe the web translation from japanese is very bad.

the ZD camera will not be released in the US...too many problems....the ZD back is faster ( just a bit) and supposedly has slightly better imagequality (hard to imagine how or why)...i guess this will help mamiya with the sales of their bodies....there really is no need to sell the ZD body if the back is only 9000 list (which might come to quite a bit lower street price?)...it will work on the 645afd and on the RZ with an adapter, which makes the back rotatable! so with prices on ebay as they are, this is a way to get a complete system (with lenses, maybe even 645 and RZ!) for a price comparable to a canon system...with better 50 and 100 quality....i guess any competition is welcome...even if it is 3 years overdue...
