Has anyone noticed that HP only offers 42" rolls for the z3100? The z3100 is a 44" printer

Duh, I figured it out, they have never offered a 44" printer only 42". Hopefully they will make some paper in that size in the futre.

It's a 44" printer, not 42".

But I asked the same question. Turns out that 42" is a standard paper size for them (and others). It's a 44" printer so you can print 42" AND 44" paper, which is also a standard.

I, too, hope they come out with some 44" paper eventually.

There are lots of great 44" papers available from other brands so not to worry. When the Epson 4000 series of 17" printers came out (and then the 4800, and now 3800), I always found it strange that Epson never produced many of their top papers in 17" rolls (like Premium Luster or Gloss) - only 16" rolls. That is when I went hunting and found so many other great paper brands in 17" rolls. The printer makers would have you believe you must use their paper with their printers in order to get the best quality but this is simply not the case.

If anything, knowing HP, it's interesting that they didn't make it a 46" printer and release 46" paper, making them the only source for "the paper that fits your printer"
