Help!! Install EP4000 on Mac Pro
« on: January 18, 2007, 06:56:39 pm »

I moved from PC to Mac world after 12 years absensce by getting a Mac Pro.

I had EP4000 for 3 plus years with XP. I dug out the original CD and 'Start Here' instruction sheet, and followed the steps as told.

But, when I run 'Printer Setup Utility,' the printer did not show up, then it is shown when 'add' button is pressed, and it is shown as 'E' for printer name, and Firewire as 'connection' (which is correct), but it ask for a print driver or printer model. EP4000 is not one of the choice available to select.

When I installed EP R200 (per instructions), it showed up automatically from Printer Setup Utility without 'adding'.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Download the latest EP4000 printer driver from the Epson web site and install it. Then use the printer setup utility to add the printer.

Exactly the same results.

Any one with similar experiences?

Jae,

Perhaps the problem is that the printer is identifying itself to the MacPro as an "E" rather than as an EP4000. Of course, there isn't a driver for an "E".

Can you try connecting by USB?

Roy, you were right. I don't know why, and I don't want to know why at this time, but Mac Pro is having problems using firewire. Installation works just fine with USB. My Epson 3200 scanner also would not run via firewire but fine with USB.

After 2 straight days, I got the migration from PC to Mac completed by 99%.

I love Mac Pro running PS CS3 (beta running Intel native). Photokit and Photokit Sharpner (both in native code) run in Mac with PC license key. B&W Converseion Pro runs in CS2 Mac, but they do not have a definite date for native conversion.

thank you,
