Can't say if its normal practise, but both me and a colleague (im upgrading from H2+CFH-39 and he is upgrading from a H2D) are told just to deliver our cameras and get an immediate swap for a new H3D-39. We both use the same dealer. The date for this is set at last week of january, and im looking forward to it
It costs me 1000 euros, and it costs my colleague nada, as his camera has had some trouble and he has accepted to get it replaced for the H3D as a compensation.

I think a lot of this depends on your delaer.
I've had zero issues with the Phase, but Dave Gallagher's guys are literally available 24/7 for any tech calls, so I assume if there is a problem a replacement would be on it's way soon.
After 4 years a 50 terabytes of data, I've learned it's camera stability first, workflow second, dealer third and type of camera back fourth.
If you can't shoot it or process it and have confidence that it's stable, then the camera becomes way too much of the thought process.
