How do I force the 3800 to use Gloss black?
« on: January 13, 2007, 10:37:37 pm »

Occasionally, I need to print out emailed faxes (tif), usually on plain paper. I'm guessing that if I simply choose Plain Paper in the media popup menu, the 3800 will automatically switch to Matt Black. I normally print in gloss so printing faxes on plain paper would be an expensive process.

is there a way to force the 3800 to use the Gloss Black, or a media similar to Plain Paper that would use the Gloss Black? is there any place where Epson specifies which Black is used with which media?

btw, again, Hong Kong shows how difficult it is to be serious about photography. while we finally have a nice printer (i.e., the Epson 3850), we don't have the paper. Epson has told me that they will not be selling the Lustre paper here. aaiii....

This won't be a problem.  You have the choice of plain paper MK (matte) and
plain paper PK (glossy). In other words, printing on plain paper will never
require changing black inks, as you are always given the choice to print
with either black ink on plain paper.
