Need Help Repairing an Overseas Canon

Hello Forum Readers,

I am in quite a predicament with my Canon Pixus iP9910 printer (Japanese cousin of the i9000), which was recently fried by a power surge. Does anyone have any ideas about how to go about trying to fix it? I can't pay to get it fixed, so I am going to try to do it myself. Does anyone have an idea of what might have been fried or where to look for information that might help me fix it myself? I would appreciate any help.

The problem could be anywhere along the power ciruit, or even farther up the line. It could be any of the inverter components or perhaps a logic circuit. It's probably an IC somewhere, but could be anything: diode, cap, resistor, fuse?? Or, it could be an entire circuit that fried.

The point is that, without a thorough understanding of electronics and diagnostics (as well as a schematic diagram of the printer's circuitry) a self-repair is probably doomed to failure.
