Ok I ordered a HP Z3100 44in and I'm really looking forward to it. Right now I have a Epson R2400 and an Epso 4000, wich is sold.
Now I have the question, which is the best second printer to go with the Z3100 ? I mean the R2400 is a little bit expensive abou ink... so I'm looking for a replacment.
Now what options do I have ? Keep the R2400 hm ? Get the HP B9180, isn't it a little bit better in ink costs ? Go one step up. Epson 3800 ? Problem I print lot's of Panos so the 3800 isn't really an option, but on the other Hand, if the Z3100 44in, could handle A4 rolls than the 3800 could really be intresing. ? (So what is the smallst roll size the Z3100 can handle ?)
Another printer would be the IPF5000, but I think it's to large and wouldn't be used enough along with the Z3100.

I wouldn't get a B9180 printer, as it is more expensive to operate than the 2400. I would get something that excels at small paper handling, and is economical to operate. I have an Epson 3800 on its way, and that would be my choice to augment a 44" printer. Something that prints on 17" paper, all the way down to smaller sheets, so you can crank out holiday cards easily. And the 80ml cartridges are better than the 2400 15ml carts. Here are some simple costs per ml:
$1.35 / ml for HP B9180 ink cartridges
$0.95 / ml for Epson R2400 ink cartridges
$0.75 / ml for Epson 3800 ink cartridges
$0.65 / ml for Epson 110 ml ink cartridges used in 4800/7800/9800
$0.58 / ml for Canon iPF5000 ink cartridges
$0.51 / ml for Epson 220 ml ink cartridges used in 4800/7800/9800
I got this information from the Inkjetart web site, and I have not confirmed the amounts.
