Introduce Myself
« on: January 01, 2007, 05:07:09 pm »

I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Jerry Grasso from outside of Hartford, Ct.

Besides Galen Rowell and his art and philosophy, I credit Michael and Alain as my mentors as I rediscovered my photographic desires in January, 2002. I stumbled across this site around this same time and Alain’s shortly thereafter.

I began my interest in photography during my first year as a high school English teacher in 1975 when I bought a used Minolta SLR102 from the senior yearbook editor. I put aside the SLR when my family started in 1983 for a variety of excuses.

Although I am now a computer programmer, I live to feed my artistic-wannabee desires through photography.

I just wanted to say “hi” to everybody here. If you are interested in who I am, my blog is here. The type of pictures I take can be found here.

I hope to learn as much as I can from all of you. I have been a subscriber to the video journal for a year already, and I have renewed as well.

Photography is now my passion which will carry me through my golden years…

Hi Jerry, and welcome to the list.  I think you could say photography is a passion for all of us here... to some degree or another.  Thanks for sharing your work!

Hi Jerry, welcome aboard. I took a peek at your PBase galleries, we’re practically neighbors. I live in Barkhamsted, Connecticut. I’ve taken many of the same shots you have posted, esp. the Farmington River.

My path has been much like yours. Started with an Ashi K1000 in the Navy, 1968-74. Then put it down for thirty years (wife, kids, dogs, house, job..). Now I’m in the glide slope years for retirement. Finally have the time and a few bucks to burn a tank of gas on weekends and shoot New England from a tripod. I love to shoot Lime Rock in season, otherwise no tellin’ where I’ll be. See you along the trail.

Thanks for the welcome, Mike and Paul. Thanks also for the visit, Paul. I lived in Winsted from '78 to '85. Guess I'll always be just a new England boy!
