True, but the only effect that would have is to change the luminance of parts of the image. It wouldn't cause hue shifts or a color cast.

Hi
This is a bit of struggle for me, getting colours right etc.
Where can I find a proper guide to set things right from the beginning. (book/web etc)?

Do a search in the forums for "Color Management", or posts made by digitaldog (Andrew Rodney). You'll find more info than you'll be able to use.
