How to turn off auto nozzle cleaing?
« on: December 06, 2006, 06:16:01 pm »

Every few days, no matter how much use my 4000 gets, it automatically initiates a head cleaning when I try to print the first job of the day.

I have become fully convinced that this cleaning actually causes clogs instead of preventing them. Time after time the nozzles are unclogged before the auto-clean but are rarely left so after it. Does anyone know how to disable this "feature"?

As far as I know, can't be done.  One of the reasons I went with the Canon IPF5000.  While the print quality on the Epsons is outstanding, the waste of ink and sometimes introducing clogs (I saw this too) from this "feature" that can't be disabled just drove me nuts.  Of course, I will probably discover a host of different problems with the Canon :-)

Thanks, John. The words class action lawsuit come to mind. A lot have people have lost a lot of money in needlessly wasted ink.
