H1 or H2?
« on: December 05, 2006, 05:51:49 pm »

I have been using my eBay A22 H mount for about 6 months now. Love it. First on a view camera with live video (wish they would add it to C10 soooon!), and now with a Kapture Group plate on my beloved fuji GX680 III. Watch out, with the H1 mount on the adaptor plate, the back is sent backward, and the focus plane with it. Many short lenses cannot focus past 15' making it NA for architectural work with less movements to boot. You also need a hassy V prism if you want a prism. Not a pretty sight on a GX680, but it works ok with tabletop, food and portraits. I am keeping my eye out for the Hy6 to fulfill my quest for a all around mount, and if so I will need to change mounts or get another back with a mount that works better on a GX680.

For now with my children growing so fast and losing stock opportunities, I need to stick this A22 on a H1 or 2; what it was made for.

Question; with my moderate expenses, I am looking for a used H body that will work well with my A22 for the time being. I do not want to invest heavily in the H system. A lens or two and rent the rest. Is there a difference with connectivity with a Leaf on a H1 vs H2? I have used it with a H2 and like the way the histogram shows on the camera’s screen. Anything else I am missing?

Bonus question; will a A22 with mount change to the new Hy6 mount even work? Can it even be changed?

I guess I had a lot to say.

Thanks, Kevin

No difference between H1 or 2 with an A22.
I currently have a used H1 kit (body, 80, viewfinder and film back) with only 2100 frames taken on it for about $5200. You could upgrade it to H2 and still pay almost 2k less than new.

Does the H2 have less mirror slap than the H1?
Does the upgrade from H1 to H2 address mirror slap?

There is no difference between the two bodies.
The upgrade consists of a board and badge swap and inclusion of the grip and charger.

None. Really they are the same camera. As far as I can tell, it simply allows for installing the H2 firmware. The H2 communicates better with Hasse backs, but if you are using any other back, there is no difference. The H2 firmware may also allow the rechargeable grip to work better and more efficiently.

And I'm in today, so feel free to contact away me any time.

Best,
