Good news for Sinar eMotion users
« on: December 05, 2006, 06:21:28 am »

I've just been told by Sinar AG the following good news!

"Right from the beginning, in 1998, Sinar always manufactured digital camera backs featuring the Live Image. With the Sinarback eMotion there was made an exception, since the eMotion was thought to be used primarily on a point-and-shoot medium format camera for the fully mobile application. However, upon several inputs from our customers we decided also to include the Live Image facility also in the Sinarback eMotion 75. We are currently working at it, and we are expecting this feature to be available for our customers by the first quarter in 2007."

Sounds good to me!

Cheers,
Willem.

N.B I was feeling a bit left out, after Phase,Leaf and Imacon all offering Live Video on their
location backs.

Sounds good, does it include eMotion22?

will this feature be available with a firmware update for current backs or will the hardware be changed in future backs only?

My understanding is that it will be a firmware upgrade and available for both the Emotion 22 and the Emotion 75.

I cannot speak for Eyelike software, but it will definitely run on the Sinar.    I am not sure if it will be activated in Capture shop 5.X or will have to wait for the new eXposure 6 software.   The time frame given for the live video makes either outlook possible.

If it is the eXposure software the recommended system requirements probably will steer you towards a new laptop since they are recommending a G5 processor with 2x2Ghz or Mac Intel processor with 2x2ghz ...both with 2gb of Ram.

The new software is completely written from the ground up and will be different from existing software from both Eyelike and Sinar.   It will incorporate many of the favorite features of both while adding some new features of its own.   It is supposed to work with legacy backs from both companies as long as they are firewire backs.

Hope that clarifies things a bit more .....
