Scotland... yes, I lived there until 1981 when I got the hell out of it and moved to Spain.
Loch Lomond: in all the years I lived not far from there, just across the Clyde and south of Glasgow, I saw Loch Lomond looking good twice! The first time I remember was doing one of my final local shoots from a motor yacht - the subject was a castle on the western side that was being converted to a hotel and lodges were being built - and I'd convinced the client that it had to be shot from the water. The next and final time was during winter, years after I left Scotland. I was driving back down to Glasgow from Blairgowrie having opted for the 'scenic' route, crazy with ice etc. (but I was, by then, a tourist), and there was a brief period where there was this incredible mixture of fog over the loch and strong, directional sunlight cutting into it. Magic. But please, don't go there expecting good weather - it is the exception far rather than the rule. After all, why do you think it's always so green and lush?
Killin. I had my honeymoon there and there's a lovely drive on the opposite side of Loch Tay from which you have this great view of Ben Lawers where I once skied; again, it is all weather dependent. It's one of those passing places roads, so parking is always difficult...
Oh, on the western shore of Loch Lomond there was a restaurant called the Stagger Inn (they love those sorts of names) and the food there used to be excellent but expensive. I dread to recommend restaurants to anyone because so much is down to the mood of the chef, but it was good when I went there!
