ImagePrint PTA on Mactel?
« on: December 03, 2006, 03:56:58 pm »

Having switched to Intel-based Macintoshs I have failed to get the PTA option (PTA_2_15) to work. I have tried it on three different machines (all Mac OS X 10.4.8). None of them shows the ColorByte option in the More Printers dialog of the Print Center. It works OK on PPC-based Macs (within its limitations). Has anybody successfully used the PTA option on Intel-based Macs?

Looks like they need to release a Universal version for the Intel camp. I'll bet you won't get it unless you're subscribed to their maintenance plan!

Here are the instructions I got from Colorbyte and they worked.
Hope they work for you.
Mike

Try the following:
If you can install the Print Center driver of ImagePrint kind with no
problem, but jobs do not make it to the ImagePrint spooler (spoolface),
there may be a permissions issue.  Try the following procedure to open
permissions on your ImagePrint folder:

Open a a Mac Terminal by double clicking the Terminal application from
within the /Applications/Utilites folder.

When it comes up, type the following, then hit the Return key:

sudo chmod -R 777 /applications/imageprint

It may ask for your mac password--if it does, enter it and hit return.

No errors should appear.

Once done, try another print and it should make it to SpoolFace.

Please note, on MacOSX system PTAPP ImagePrint driver can be used to print
from MacOSX applications that support printing through the OSX Print Center.
If you have ability to run Windows applications from this Intel based MacOSX
system MacOSX PTAPP ImagePrint driver will not be able to work with them, as
far as I understand.
