Phase Live Preview & ALPA
« on: November 29, 2006, 01:07:39 pm »

Does anyone have any thoughts and/or knowledge with regards to using live preview on Phase backs with camera bodies like an ALPA?

Because if you can focus on the back of Phase P+ Back using an Alpa TC, WA or SWA we can say good bye to Leica.  Could you imagine a P21-P45 on a TC with focus preview on the back!?  This would be an amzing little carry around for travel and enviromental portraits with a couple of extra lenses and small manfrotto carbon and your good to go.  Possibly the new Profoto 600B R! You couldn't ask for more.

Thank you in Advance for any knowledge or advice.

Live preview is Tethered only to a computer. So you will have to carry a laptop with you.

Also,as far as I know,Live Video only works inside.
It's to bright outside!
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't see why live preview shouldn't one day work with the built-in screen. And yes, that would make the Alpa one neat camera, if it were all nicely implemented. At themoment I think waking up the back is a nuisance.

Also an MFRF like the Plaubel Makina would be neat too ...

Plaubel Makina lenses are not up to digital standard. I used them for 10 years.
Mamiya 7's were far better, but of course it was not so small a package.

sadly these are all hybrid suggestions.
what we need is a ground up redesign for 645, with great lenses.

its what Zeiss should have designed instead of wasting their time making a 35mm RF film camera in 2006. Luddites.

I use live video outdoors all the time. Just place a 4x ND folded twice over the lens. Just remove before you shoot.
