bag for 5D + 24-105 & 70-300DO & 17-40?
« on: November 27, 2006, 03:29:47 pm »

I'm looking for the ideal small bag for walking around with this small set of gear:

Canon 5D body with Really Right Stuff L plate
Canon EF 17-40 f/4L lens
Canon EF 24-105 f/4L lens
Canon EF 70-300 f/4.5-5.6 DO lens

plus a spare battery and CF card.

So far these look promising:

Lowepro Pro Mag 2AW
Lowepro Stealth Reporter D400 AW

but has anyone here tried any of these with a 5D, preferably with a RRS L plate?
Fortunately the three lenses are almost identical in size, so it shouldn't matter much which is on the camera. If possible I'd like to be able to leave the hood attached (not reversed) on the mounted lens, which makes the 70-300 DO rather long. The 17-40 hood is also very wide, which may be a complication.

I use a Lowepro slingshot 200 for those. With grip and RRS its tight, but fits. I also carry a 550EX. Problem is back strain. I am looking forward to the 300 to serve this purpose. I should have it soon and will write up a review.

Tamracs are good too. Check them out.
