Ship Breaking Yards on Google Earth

Pretty cool to see from above what Michael saw from the ground, though I find it very interesting that the high-res imagery stops just shy of the actual breaking yards.  Still, very interesting and a new perspective and context for the shoot.

Are you aware that Edward Burtynsky did a photo essay on the shipbreaking site in 2000?  Maybe this will be the Yosemite of our era.

And in the Discovery series of "Bangla Bangers", they visit the shipyards to find spare parts they can use for a sort of "extreme makeover" for old cars.

BTW, Michael also mentions Burtynsky in his report from Chittagong

Speaking of Burtynsky, what is a "chromogenic print?"

EDIT:  Never mind, I looked it up for myself.  I thought it might be the latest jargon for "inkjet," but instead it appears to be jargon for "not inkjet."
