smaller platform for a gitzo GT2940L

i have a gitzo GT2940L and a RRS b40 head. the mounting platform on the gitzo is too large for the head, this was also the case with my now retired FLM head, but with the RRS head it blocks the tilting downwards. can this platform be exchanged?

i removed the platform altogether, seems to work...
