Recommending other websites and fora?
« on: November 08, 2006, 08:19:22 pm »

Hi All

Before I commit a breach rules and or etiquette is it permitted to invite LL members to visit and join other sites.

I am a member of many other fora some of which get regular mentions like outbackphoto and dpreview but I also belong to a UK based (but with some international members) group of photographers whose forum operates more like an online club with critique advice by fellow members and even competitions.  It also has a more 'public' face with a website.

I have been asked by the senior moderator to invite folk to come visit and if they like what they see registering and joining in?

So, please let me know if I can do this? I have found my membership here worthwhile and would not want to jeopardise it making a mistake about this!

TIA

Well, I'm interested in the forum - need other ways to waste time!

Hi situgrrl

As no moderator has commented I will PM you the information.  I do not want to blot my copybook by putting the info here before I get 'permission'

Maybe this will get a moderator to react.

I have noticed frequent references to DPReview and other forums from time to time here, along with suggestions that people visit them (of course, some such posts can be interpreted as an invitation to a certain poster to go away.)

It sounds to me as if you are not pushing a commercial product, so it seems reasonable (to me at least) to let your post stand here.

I would certainly be interested in at least visiting your site.

That's my unofficial take on the rules of this forum.

Thanks for asking and I will defer to Michael, but I can see absolutely no problem at all

Well in the sincere hope that Michael agrees with Chris and will pass it with a nod

Here is the information:-

The main website is here http://dapa-group.co.uk/  and the forum is here http://www.dapa-group.co.uk/forum/index.php

They have a (for want of a better description) Mission Statement:-

Dapa-group description.

Dapa-group is a small, but growing Internet based digital photography group, willing to share their knowledge & experience with other liked minded enthusiasts.
Our photographers specialise in a wide variety of subject matter and styles from landscape and natural history studies to portrait and figure work, not to mention still life and abstracts.
Why not visit our website at www.dapa-group.com and see for yourself.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

I look foward to your views and comments about dapa and hope you will join the forum and find time contribute there as well as usual here at LL
