Nikon D80 sharpness issue
« on: November 07, 2006, 01:49:56 pm »

I'm new to DSLR's, so perhaps someone could help. When I'm shooting RAW (NEF) files with my Nikon D80, do the in-camera sharpness settings have any effect on the RAW file? Is all the sharpening to be done in or after ACR?

Many thanks,
Alex

Alex,
The sharpeness setting only applies to JPEGs. And you're right, with RAW you have to deal with sharpening in your RAW converter or even at a later stage in Photoshop (if your workflow allows it: RAW file->RAW Converter->Photoshop).
