It's November, Where's Lightroom
« on: November 04, 2006, 08:09:00 am »

I think I heard that Adobe was shooting for a November release of Lightroom.  I wonder if they are going to get the final version out this month?

It's always been said by the Adobe people they were shooting for the "end of 2006." Nothing more specific has been said by any reliable source and that isn't set in stone either since there has been no official statement.

A good bet would be Feb. 27, 2007 because that's when the beta releases are set to expire.

Feb 27 doesn't give them any wiggle room, I don't think there will be a beta 5.0 and so the release needs to targetted for well before the beta expires.  With 4.0/4.1 just released, I'd guess January 07.

From a consumer's tax-point-of view, if it's going to be Jan then why not Dec? Then you would get an extra year to write off the purchase from your taxes if you are a professional.

If ready means December 06 - great! If Ready means Feb 07 thats still great! Personally I want a product that ships complete and doesnt require immediate patching.

Well, they are willing to give it a way for free to RSP license holders, so I don't think it will be astronomical.

I'd guess it will undercut Aperture so will be no more than £220, but as they are offering it to RSP users, and RSP was under £100 maybee it'll be cheaper than we expect- steal Aperture's thunder?
