Aperture demo to be released
« on: November 02, 2006, 10:58:59 am »

Just noticed THIS post at Macworld which discusses the release of a fully functional demo of Aperture today, and thought people might be interested.

The post also mentions the release of a 1.5.1 update later today for existing users (performance improvements relating to previews), as well as a separate download which will add RAW support for the Nikon D80 and Canon XTI. It's not entirely clear if that is going to be released today, however.

Aperture 1.5.1 will be available later today from Apple’s Web site.

In addition to the update, Apple is also releasing a fully-functioning demo of Aperture, which will also be available for download from its Web site later today. The demo allows photographers to try out every aspect of the program, which has not been crippled in any, according to Apple.

Good News!  I really don't understand why it took so long to offer a demo version of Aperture.
Anyway, it's never too late.

Except the trial serial number they give you doesn't work with the 1.5.1 updated version. Nice one Apple.

Well, still quite good news!  Apple have seldom issued free trials of any major software (iWork is the only exception I remember).  They must be REALLY scared about Lightroom!  And, judging from Beta 4, they have every reason to....

Still, being an almost fanatical Apple supporter, I simply have to download that trial, latest version or no.  At least I´ll get the general feel of it, and can see whether my ancient G5 can run it at anything like decent speed....
